It's high season for whale and dolphin watchers off the Cornish coast. Orca Sea-Faris operates eco- cruises off the south coast of Cornwall aboard "Seaquest of Falmouth," a 12 seater RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). The skipper, Captain Keith Leeves, reports sightings in the past few days of Sei and Minke whales and superpods of 1000 (one thousand!) plus dolphins and their young. The two man crew of "Seaquest of Falmouth" provide eco-tourists with a commentary, lifejackets, thermal waterproof breathable suits for adults, information packs and ID charts helping to identify wildlife seen during the 3 hour cruises between Dodman Point and The Lizard. Wild life watchers can look out for seals and whales, interact with dolphins and their calves, spot auks, guillemots, razorbills, gannets and puffins, all attracted by mackerel and smaller fish such as sprats, pilchards, sardines and sandeels shoaling in the bay. The "Seaquest of Falmouth" is fully licensed, insured and coded for 12 persons plus 2 crew whilst operating up to 20 miles from any haven, day or night. "Seaquest of Falmouth" cruises at 35 knots and is capable of over 50 knots. The boat is equipped with VHF radio, GPS, radar and powered by twin 265 hp Volvo Turbo diesel engines. There is also an onboard toilet. During the winter period 2 hours cruises depart from Falmouth Docks with dry boarding from the quayside: adults £25.00, children £20.00. Mohair is renowned for its luster, strength and durability. In tests it has been shown to be as much as three times more resistant to abrasion than sheep's wool and, unlike wool, mohair fibres are smooth and don't trap bacteria which cause smells and bad foot health. www.corrymoor.com
West Country artist and wilderness painter Tony Foster, known in the USA as 'the Warhol of the wilderness' opened an exhibition season at The Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter and then the show moved on to gallery venues in New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Jackson Hole. The exhibition, titled "WaterMarks - Watercolour Diaries from Swamps to Icebergs," is a visual record of the landscapes, flora and fauna encountered on the artist's treks into the pristine wildernesses of the world and features water in all its manifestations. We arranged publicity to promote the opening of Tony's exhibition in Exeter with a TV slot and interview on BBC TV Spotlight, BBC Radio Cornwall, Exeter Express & Echo, The Western Morning News and an artist's profile in Cornwall Today magazine and for the opening in San Francisco on KQED Radio 88.5 FM and Kron TV. Tony is now travelling the world, working on 'The Big Picture,' a collection of massive scale watercolour paintings of the world's iconic landmarks, from the Grand Canyon to Everest.
